Welcome to the Gold Coast Runners!
The birth of the Gold Coast Runners, South Florida's newest Road Runners
Club of America (RRCA) member running club, came about at the request of
local area runners. "The western and southern areas of Broward County
are starved for organized group runs," says Reneé Grant, president
of the new club and co-owner of Runner's Depot. "We are approached
on a daily basis by customers wanting to know where they can go for a group
fun run. There really isn't anything formally organized that we can suggest
to them in this area."
The Gold Coast Runners, developed with ten founding board members, hosts
a weekend fun run on Sunday mornings at Hollywood Beach and a weekly evening
run through Central Park in Plantation. Located in central Broward, this
run will circle the lake at beautiful Central Park. Refreshments will be
provided after the run. All group runs will cater to runners and walkers
of all ability levels.
Members will enjoy club socials, such as group-attended sporting events,
parties, family picnics, group race trips, potluck dinners, special discounts
with club-sponsored businesses and much more.
The club will host several 5k road races each year. The Firefighter's 5K in September, benefiting the Firefighter's Fund, takes place at the Hollywood
Beach Broadwalk. This race has just received the approval to be recognized
as the RRCA State 5K Championship for this year. This means, if you win
your age group at the Firefighter's 5k, you are the State Champion at this
distance in your division! The Run Through Central Park 5K is another annual event which winds through the shady streets of Plantation and through our regular running path at Central Park. A Prediction 5K Membership Race titled the "Summer Time Trial" will take place for the first time this July 30th at Markham Park.

Membership in the Gold Coast Runners is $25 ($35-family) for the year. Group and corporate memberships are also available. All members of the Gold Coast Runners automatically become members of the RRCA. The RRCA is a non-profit organization of over 600 running clubs and 130,000 members across the United States.
